Preparation

Well Richard and I are in the final stages of getting ready. We have most of our equipment (only lacking a few odds and ends), medical supplies, and clothing. What we mainly have left to do is plan a couple of mail drops and work out the timing a little better. We plan on doing a pretty big grocery shop this week. Not to buy a bunch of stuff but to get more ideas for eating than my normal regimen (pop tarts and ramen for as many days as possible). 16 days to go and no matter what we do I’m sure there will be last minute preparation.

Bet you guys can’t wait to see that red dot start moving along, but with all the last minute preparations, I guess you have your hands full. I imagine it is fun packing up those neat little packages of shoes and warm socks, vitamins and such to meet you along the way. Looking forward to seeing you two off. Ricky, I noticed the trail goes through the Grayson Highland State Park in Virginia, where you all ran among all those tiny wild ponies. By the time you get there the old expression, “so hungry I could eat a horse” may take on a more literal meaning! Love, Mom
