Less Than 2000 Miles to Go!
The guys have checked in briefly to say that they have crossed Mollies Ridge in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. That is 174 miles from Springer Mountain (the start of the AT) meaning they now have less than 2000 miles to go. While that might still sound like a lot, and it is, it’s a milestone nonetheless.
Tomorrow they will reach Clingmans Dome, the highest point on the AT at 6,646′. It should be all downhill from that point!

So you guys went past the tip of Lake Fontana. Melissa likes to play there. Did y’all get in the lake? Looking at the map, if you are at Clingman’s Dome tonight, it looks like you’ll walk your trail happy legs right into Gatlinburg tomorrow. I’d drive up there and bring y’all some goodies tomorrow night if I knew you’d be there. Can you eat goodies, or do you get upset tummies after eating less fatty wholesome trail fixin’s? Told Charese, who haven’t seen in ages, I’d go to the Zoo with her, her sister, and her grandson in the afternoon. Ricky, I left my purse at Lee Lee’s house, and she brought it back when I was asleep, so she left it outside. I thought in your car maybe, so looked there and found a graduation present for you from Martha and John Smith. I guess she left it there thinking you’d get it, not knowing you had left town. Guess I never would have found it if wasn’t looking for purse. Will mail it to a dropoff site for you, unless I see y’all somewhere on the trail. Keep those pictures coming!
